Therapies

The type of hypnotherapy we use includes counselling skills and a number of NLP techniques integrated with the hypnosis. However, other techniques are also available and can be included alongside the hypnotherapy. Below is a run-down of all of the therapies that may be used, depending upon your individual case and preferences.

Ericksonian Hypnosis

We practice what is known as ‘Ericksonian’ hypnosis. This is generally characterised as a non-invasive, indirect approach to hypnotherapy. It is sometimes referred to as ‘Conversational Hypnosis’. There is no clicking of fingers and no shouting, “Sleep!” Instead, a conversation takes place where you share your reasons for seeking hypnotherapy and where you would like to get to. What takes place after that is impossible to dictate, as each session is as individual as the client being treated.

Counselling

People are sometimes surprised that hypnotherapy looks more like counseling than “Stage Hypnosis”. As stated, our approach is conversational and there is often little discernible difference between the counselling and hypnotherapy, as both seamlessly flow into the other. The counseling style we adopt is predominantly solution-focused, though integrates a number of other models including elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a consistently person-centered approach.

Relaxation & Self-hypnosis

The power of simple relaxation can hardly be over-stated. Everything from skin complaints to IBS can be helped through learning how to relax. Some people have referred to a hypnotherapy session as “a mental massage” and it’s not difficult to see why. However, we don’t want you “mental spa” to end once you leave our offices. So, when appropriate we will teach you the steps to relaxation and self-hypnosis, enabling you to recreate those states in the freedom of your own home.

NLP  /  Coaching

NLP, or ‘Neuro Linguistic Programming’ was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, when they decided to model the therapeutic methods of Milton Erickson. So, it is only natural that a hypnotherapy that has it’s roots in Erickson’s approach would include what later came to be known as NLP.

Chinosis

In Chinosis you do not enter a hypnotic state, but like hypnosis it is very effective and can be used for many things. Chinosis uses neurosymbolism to reduce emotions and change your mindset. You represent the issues that you want to deal with in symbols so that your mind can deal with them without you having to consciously process the information. You then rub on acupressure points whilst focusing on a symbol. In a Chinosis session, we guide you through the process and teach you how to use and apply Chinosis to yourself. It is then both a powerful therapy tool and an effective self-help technique you can take away.
